Medical Biology Cluster
The master's programme in Biomedical Sciences - Cluster Medical Biology focuses on the interface between Biology and Medical Sciences. It offers an interesting study for those who are fascinated by acquiring in-depth fundamental knowledge of the biochemical and molecular biological background of medical phenomena, and wish to specialize in one or multiple areas of this field of research.
The five tracks offered in the Medical Biology cluster are:
- Biochemistry and Metabolic Diseases
- Cell Biology and Advanced Microscopy
- Experimental and Internal Medicine
- Infection and Immunity
- Oncology
Neurobiology cluster
Within the neurobiological cluster there are three specifically designed tracks focusing on important fields within the larger scope of neuroscience. All three of them are organised by UvA research groups specialized in exactly these topics, creating an atmosphere of research based education that is perfectly suitable for a master's programme in neurobiology. Also, experts from different institues such as the Academic Medical Centre (AMC) in Amsterdam and the Netherlands Institue for Neurosciences (NIN) take on major parts of the courses and research projects.
The three specialisations are:
- Basic and Applied Neuroscience
- Neurobiology, Cognition and Computation
- Pathophysiology and Psychopharmacoloy
