What do you think about the UvA? Participate in the National Student Survey
The National Student Survey 2012 will take place between 6 February and 6 April. This is an annual national survey where students can express their opinion on study programmes, universities and universities of applied sciences. Take part in the survey and you could win an iPad.

Student grants and loans may be abolished for Master’s programmes
Halbe Zijlstra, State Secretary of Education, Culture and Science in the Netherlands, submitted a legislative proposal in the Dutch Lower House concerning cuts to higher education on 19 January 2012. This proposal advocates the abolition of financial assistance for Master's degree students.

AUC Who's in Town lecture series - 'Big impact from small size: applications of nanotechnology in society'
As part of the 'Who's in Town' lecture series organised by Amsterdam University College, Prof. Albert van den Berg, honorary professor and head of BIOS/Lab-on-a-Chip group, MESA+ at the University of Twente and board member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences, will hold a lecture about nanotechnology at the AUC Artis Library on Tuesday, 31 January 2012. All students and staff of the UvA are welcome.

Sociologist Gerben Moerman named UvA Lecturer of the Year 2011
Sociologist Gerben Moerman has been named UvA Lecturer of the Year 2011 for his dynamic and innovative teaching. The award was presented by jury chairwoman Tessa van Ligten, a Dentistry student and member of the Central Student Council.

UvA celebrates 380th Dies Natalis
The University of Amsterdam (UvA) celebrated its 380th Dies Natalis (anniversary) on Friday, 6 January 2012. In the opening address, Rector Magnificus Prof. Dymph van den Boom spoke about promoting the distinctive features of Dutch universities. The philosopher Daniel Dennett then gave the Dies Natalis speech titled ‘Curiosity’.

CREA moves to Roeterseiland
In January 2012, UvA cultural centre CREA will move into a custom-built new building at the Roeterseiland complex. As a result, all CREA activities will take place under one roof for the first time ever.

UvA to celebrate 380th Dies Natalis
On Friday, 6 January 2012, the UvA will celebrate its 380th Dies Natalis (the University’s anniversary). All employees and students are welcome to attend the event. In addition to the opening speech by Rector Magnificus Dymph van den Boom and the Dies lecture by Professor Daniel Dennett, the Lecturer of the Year 2011 will be announced and honorary doctorates will be presented.

More than four million study results have been migrated from the old system Studieweb. Now that all the study results are available in SIS, you are able to view your study progress in your academic plan and, where applicable, apply for your degree certificate and look at your (binding) study advice.
