The Media Centre of the UvA
The Media Library is a centre for independent study available to UvA students and alumni of language courses or humanities departments (such as history).
Collection
We have a very large amount of courses for learning languages and diagnostic tests which come in the form of books, CD-Roms, DVD's, audio files and programs on the network.
There is a large collection of foreign language films for practicing your listening skills or for special teaching projects.
Printing jobs
You can send printing jobs from the computer rooms of the Media Centre to the printers in the IC Study Centre, which is also on the ground floor, opposite the Media Centre.
You can pay for them by ChipKnip. If you do not have a ChipKnip on your bankcard, you can buy prepaid ChipKnip cards in the University Library building at the Singel.
Television recordings can be made for FGw teachers/employees (upon request)
- The Uitzending gemist (missed programmes) service for the stations Nederland 1, 2 and 3, which can be re-recorded up to 10 days after the programme went to air.
- Television channels in the Media Centre. Recordings can also be made via the many channels that are available within the Media Centre.
- Digital television with around 90 channels. These are not available for viewing in the Media Centre, but recordings are possible.
