Adaptive Generation of Stereo Images
Visualization is an important part of many e-Science and Grid projects. The use of stereo images in visualization has been given a new impulse following the development of autostereoscopic displays.

Analysis tools for the microthreaded core compiler
We are developing a compiler for a new concurrent language called µTC, which implements constructs in C based on the microthread microprocessor ISA extensions.

Evaluation of multi-core performance using microthreaded microgrid simulator
This project is a part of an ongoing program of evaluating multicore chips based on microthreaded microprocessors. The project will involve understanding the basis of microthreaded microprocessors.

Survey on suitable Optimizations for the Microthreading model using the GCC compiler
Nowadays the compiler is the critical part of microprocessors development. The compiler is the bond between two pyramids linked by their peaks, the first is the magic world of software developers and the second is the secret world of chips designers.

A Language Independent Proler of Distributed Applications
Debugging, testing and proling of heterogeneous distributed applications is always a challenge. The goal of this project is to obtain a language independent profiling framework, as an extension of TIDE, a language independent debugging tool developed at CWI.

Specification and Analysis of Inter-Thread Communication in Thread Algebra
Program Algebra (PGA) and Thread Algebra (TA) have been developed during the last two years and we have currently little experience with applications. We welcome a student who will specify and analyze a number of basic protocols involving communication between threads.

A Language Independent Preference Management Service
In the area of multi-language, multi-thread, and distributed application development there is plenty possibility for standardization and reuse of common application services such as error management, GUIs and conguration. At CWI we maintain a large heterogeneous (distributed) interactive application called the ASF+SDF Meta-Environment, in which a number of services have already been standardized and reused. The one service that is missing is preference management.
