Counselling Office of the Amsterdam Law School

The Counselling Office of the Amsterdam Law School is responsible for advising and counselling students on academic matters. You should contact the Office if you have any questions or problems related to your studies.

- How to get in touch with a study adviser

The study advisers offer two possible ways of contact. Changes in this schedule will be posted at the UvA student's website (www.student.uva.nl/lawstudents).

Drop-in hours

  • Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10.30-12.30 hours
  • waiting room opposite room A 011b
  • intended for relatively straightforward questions
  • No appointment is required. In some periods it is possible to sign in on a list, available in the waiting room. You will then know at what time your are expected.

Advice by appointment

  • Monday - Friday
  • Intended for students with more complicated questions who need to spend more time with a Student Counsellor.
  • You must make an appointment in advance, preferably by telephone, throught the Student Desk. See the link for opening hours. For students with questions about the approval of electives, the granting of exemptions or special study arrangements, there is a separate advice session on Wednesdays between 09.00 and 13.00 hours (by appointment through the Student Desk only).

Evening students

Students who are unable to go the Counselling Office during the day, should first contact the study advisers by telephone (tel. 020 - 525 3457, from Monday - Thursday from 9.00 - 10.30 hours) of by e-mail (studiebegeleiding-fdr@uva.nl).

Questions by e-mail

If you have specific and relatively straightforward questions, you can also ask them by e-mail. Questions will only be answered if you enclose you full contact details (your name, address, and telephone number) and your UvA student number in the message!
