Career Services Programme for law students

Published 29 September 2010

Introduction

The Career Services Programme of the Faculty of Law helps law students with:

  • assistance in the search for a position with an employer who fits your career goals
  • advise on planning your career
  • assistance with questions regarding ‘life long learning'.

Orientation on the labour market and career planning

The Career Services Programme focuses on the preparation and guidance of students for the job market upon graduation. In a total of three consultations the Career Services Coach will assist you with such topics as setting your career goals, deciding on which branch of the legal arena suits you best and which factors influence your decision (for instance career opportunities within a firm, combination between work and family life, wages, secondary benefits). Your personal ambitions and motivation will form the basis for these bilateral conversations.

Assistance in goal setting and career planning

Often a student may be unaware of his or her true ambitions, or feel that the direction chosen may not be the right course for him or her after all.

In bilateral conversations we will first focus on goal setting, after which we will tackle your motivation and ambitions. Then, we will conclude with mock job interviews and preparing a resume. The underlying question in these bilateral talks will be: "which career suits my qualifications and ambitions?"

Life long learning

In two bilateral talks between the Coach and the student we will tackle the question of which post-graduate programme you envision and why you would choose this direction. Furthermore, we can provide you with information on various post-graduate programmes and career programmes.
