In A Classical Landscape: Jacob van Campen’s 'Via Appia' in the Countryside of Utrecht, Jaap Evert Abrahamse will investigate the origins, design, realization, and subsequent decay of a long forgotten “grand projet”, which was undertaken around the year 1650, during the Golden Age of the Dutch Republic.

Interantional Congress: Fascination for the Foe

This interdisciplinary international congress explores how seventeenth-century Spanish and Dutch artists expressed their idea of the national community by depicting the foe as a necessary contrast to their ideal citizen, but the congress also examines the curiosity that Dutch and Spanish felt towards each other before and after 1648.
