MA Course and Exam Registration
Course registration new international students
Always read the rules and regulations before you register for courses and exams.
Course registration semester 1
All students starting with a master programme will be asked to send the Graduate School his or her choice of elective with the attached form.
Students starting with a research MA programme will discuss their choice of elective courses upon arrival (or before) with their programme director. If this results in course changes we kindly request you to contact the Graduate Office immediately.
Course registration semester 2
All MA students can register for courses taught in the second semester using SIS in the alloted registration period. Instructions on how to use SIS will be posted on this website during the first semester.
Exchange students
Exchange students at the faculty of Humanities can only register for courses via the International Office Humanities.

Course registration semester 1
Students starting with their second year are asked to enroll for courses using SIS, except those in one of the following programmes:
- Archeologie en prehistorie
- Archeologie (rMA)
- Archiefwetenschap
- American Studies
- Culturele informatiewetenschap
- Europese/European Studies (alle trajecten/all tracks
- Film Studies
- Geschiedenis- alle trajecten
- Geschiedenis (rMA)
- Holocaust and Genocide Studies
- Journalistiek en media
- New Media
- Media Studies (research MA)
- Preservation and Presentation of the Moving Image
- Television Studies
Course registration semester 2
All MA students can register for courses taught in the second semester using SIS in the alloted registration period. Please read the instructions given below carefully.

How do I find my timetable?
Go to: http://rooster.uva.nl
Set the timetable website to English in the top right corner and make sure the website is set to the correct academic year
- Click on ‘Programme' in the top bar
- Select ‘Faculteit der Geesteswetenwetenschappen' (Faculty of Humanities) or the Teaching Institute:
a. Onderwijsinstituut Geschiedenis, archeologie en regiostudies (History, Archeaology and Regional Studies)
b. Onderwijsinstituut Kunst-, religie- en cultuurwetenschappen (Art, Religion and Cultural Studies)
c. Onderwijsinstituut Mediastudies (Media Studies)
d. Onderwijsinstituut Neerlandistiek (Dutch Studies)
e. Onderwijsinstituut Taal- en letterkunde (Languages and Literature)
f. Onderwijsinstituut Wijsbegeerte (Philosophy)
- Select one or more Programmes
- Select the correct Period. Always choose a ‘Semester' or ‘Academic year', because the default is set to only show the timetable of the current week.
- Select Teaching or Examtimetable
- Click View Timetable
