Sustainability: solution or illusion?

Sefa, the University of Amsterdam's Economic Faculty Association, will stage the 2009 Sefa Conference ‘Sustainability - Solution or Illusion?' on 3 December 2009. The conference, organised in collaboration with the Economics and Business Faculty (FEB), will be held in the Beurs van Berlage (Amsterdam) under the supervision of day chairman Arnold Heertje, Professor emeritus of National Economy at the University of Amsterdam.

The FEB's dean, Tom Wansbeek, will officially open the conference. The programme features lectures by various speakers, including Lucas Reijnders (Professor of Environmental Science at the University of Amsterdam), Robbert Dijkgraaf (president of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences KNAW), Diederik Samsom (member of the Lower House for the PvdA labour party), Henk Keilman (Sustainable Investor) and Peter de Wit (CEO of Shell Nederland). There will be various opportunities for interaction and discussion, including a panel debate.

Participation

Admission is free for Sefa members. Other students, UvA alumni and staff members will be required to pay €10. Tickets for private individuals and businesses cost €150 (participants from these groups can reserve tickets for €90 until 15 November).
