Preservation and Presentation of the Moving Image (professional master)
Research project and thesis
MA programme Preservation and Presentation of the Moving Image
Procedures and rules for writing, supervision and marking of theses for the P&P MA
The master thesis is written as part of a research project developed by the MA programme Preservation and Presentation of the Moving Image, in close collaboration with one or more institutes in the field of archiving and presenting audiovisual media. At the start of the second semester, students make a choice for one of the research projects offered within the context of the programme. Each student researches one specific aspect of the project independently. Results of the research are regularly discussed during meetings of the project team.
Each student concludes the project with a written report of around 10,000 words and a presentation of the research findings at a joint symposium. In the thesis students prove to be able to reflect upon independent research activities and to report on these in a manner that agrees with the current disciplinary standards. In exceptional cases, students can work on a personal project, agreed upon and supervised by two members of the academic staff involved in the programme.
