Entry visa

Entry visa

Not all students from non-EU countries need a entry visa to travel to the Netherlands. EU/EEA students and students who are citizens of Australia, Canada, Japan, Monaco, New Zealand, South Korea, the USA and the Vatican City State do not need an entry  visa (MVV) to enter the Netherlands.

As soon as you are accepted the University of Amsterdam invites you to apply online for your entry visa (MVV). Please make sure you send the required documents and pay the required fee in time.

An entry visa is not the same as a residence permit. All non-EU students will need to apply for a residence permit after arrival. See the section 'after arrival' of the new students website for more information on residence permits.

More information concerning the entry visa and residence permit application procedure is available through the link below.
