Celebrating 100 years of modern lawyers in China
To celebrate the first century anniversary of a modern legal profession in China, this seminar discusses contemporary legal practice in the PRC. It discusses how the complex Chinese economic, cultural and legal environment challenge contemporary lawyers and law firms. The seminar addresses the current status of practicing law in China, the differences between domestic and international law firm environments, the relationship between lawyers and clients, and the evolving process for the near future. The seminar starts with a presentation by Ms. Jiajia Gao, one of China's leading corporate attorneys in the Netherlands, followed by discussion chaired by Benjamin van Rooij, who has just conducted an in-depth study on lawyer career patterns, and firm management, organizational culture and leadership in successful small and medium sized firms in inland China.
