UvAvpn
UvAvpn is a software application that establishes an encrypted connection between your computer and the UvA network. UvAvpn ensures that your computer is recognised as part of the UvA network.
Cisco VPN client for Windows XP / Vista (version 5.0)
Download the VPN installer through the link below. You can also download the manual through this link. Install the Cisco VPN client for Windows by following the steps in the manual.
Start up the vpnclient_setup.msi application. The installation programme will now start up. Please note: you will need administrator rights in order to install the software. We recommend that you temporarily disable your antivirus software (especially McAfee) and firewall software during the installation procedure.
Cisco VPN client for Mac OS X
There are three different Cisco clients for Macintosh systems.
- version 4.8 for OSX 10.3 (Panther)
- version 4.9 for OSX 10.4 (Tiger)
- version 4.9.01.0100 for OSX 10.5 (Leopard)
This final version is available in universal application format, and is suitable for the new Intel Core Duo hardware.
Download the client and follow the instructions in the manual. Please note: The Information Centre does not provide support for these versions.
IMPORTANT: Mac OS 'Snow Leopard' does not require seperate VPN installation. This operating system has its own inbuilt VPN software.
